Pan y Paz
A unique European bakery in the heart of Leon! Run by a Frenchman and his Dutch wife, Pan y Paz is open 6 days a week from 7:00 a.m. till 7:00 p.m. from Monday to Saturday. Outstanding pastries, bread and coffee in a lovely old colonial home, just two blocks from the cathedral in Leon. English, Spanish, French and Dutch spoken. Great, out of this world sandwiches. This is a fantastic option for breakfast, and a light lunch or dinner. Check it out!
Meson Real

The best Spanish cuisine in town! Located only 200 yards north of Ruben Dario Park, Meson Real is a treat for dinner. Open for dinner from Monday through Friday from 5 to 11 pm, and lunch from Friday to Sunday from noon till 3 p.m. The a la carte menu, complemented with daily specials is always a treat. If you like a good Spanish Paella, make sure you program yourself for a Thursday evening. They offer a nice selection of wines. Owner / chef Gustavo is usually there to personally greet you. Café Via Via
An institution in town! A franchise from Belgium, Via Via is located in a lovely old building a couple of blocks from the central park. They have a spacious bar setting with pool tables, a full international bar and a pleasant mix of locals with tourists, making of this place a perfect spot to get information from both locals and travellers coming through town. They also operate a nice hostel in the back of the building with private rooms and dorm rooms alike.[themify_hr color=”light-gray” width=”1px”]
Pure Earth Café
Located within the Bigfoot Hostel, just across the street from Via Via. Great Organic coffee, an extensive vegetarian menu, and a very colourful mural will make of your visit here truly memorable. A great place to meet other travellers and get information about Leon and surroundings. Tours to beaches, volcanoes and other interesting attractions close to Leon can be organized at the Bigfoot Hostel.
Mediteraneo
Pleasant setting in an old colonial house with a courtyard and gardens. European and Nicaraguan cuisine, specializing in steaks, pizza and pasta. Nice selection of Italian, French and Chilean wines Open Tuesday through Sunday for dinner from 5:30 p.m. Without doubt one of the best restaurants in town! El Jardin Secreto Restaurant Lounge
Located a couple of blocks from central park, across the street from the La Salle School. Tucked away in a nice old house, this restaurant offers what is probably the best authentic Italian pizza in town. Thin crust wood oven baked pizza with a variety of toppings. Menu also includes pastas, calzones, etc. Free wi fi for guests. Great option for a good coffee.
Comedor Poneloya: Mariscos y Mas
Hidden inside a building only 25 meters north of the Cathedral, between the Best Western Las Mercedes and the INTUR tourist information center, this pleasant, relaxed restaurant offers the best Nica seafood in Leon at prices that are even more affordable that at the beach restaurants in Poneloya! Fresh catch of the day served here daily. Business is owned and run by a group of formerly unemployed women who have been coached by NGO`s and government. A true must if you like seafood.
La Perla
Located at the pleasant Hotel La Perla, the restaurant is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Ample menu that includes amongst other options, pastas, beef, pork and pastries. Located 1 ½ blocks North of La Merced Church.
Taquezal
Bar Restaurant and Karaoke. Located one block from Central Park, in the area called Zona Viva, this pleasant establishment is open from 4:00 p.m. to 2:00 am Monday to Saturday. Al Carbon
Set in an old colonial building with a lovely interior courtyard, Al Carbon offers outstanding meals and first class hospitality and service. Nice menu with good beef, chicken and seafood options. Italian Pizza Lebanese Food
You won’t have any trouble trying to figure out the menu here! Yes you guessed, they serve Pizza and Lebanese food, undoubtedly the best humus and baba ghanouj. Do take note that their prices are quite on the high end! They are located half a block North of the Cathedral.
Los Chatos
Typical Nicaraguan cuisine with a down to earth homemade taste. Pleasant setting, good service and affordable prices. Full bar service. Located in the Barrio Sutiava. Open daily for lunch and dinner. Caters to special private events.
Market
The city market is located behind the magnificent cathedral, one block from central park. Here you will find a variety of food stands offering charcoal grilled meats, chicken and a bit of everything! This is a good spot if you are interested in getting a flavour of local cuisine and eating with the locals in a very informal setting!
